Taylor Hackford elected DGA President at Biennial Convention in July. President Michael Apted steps down after three terms, becoming the second-longest serving president after George Sidney. Guild focuses on Internet piracy as top policy issue. The Guild negotiates and ratifies a new two-year National Commercial Agreement with economic and creative rights advances. DGA announces that it has commissioned continual updates of the extensive new media research used by the Guild in its negotiations cycle of 2007/2008. Collected residuals reach more than $260 million.
