Earlier this year, the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) introduced the Bridge to Health program to provide low cost health center visits and basic healthcare services to temporarily uninsured industry members for a fee of $25 per visit.
Because even that limited fee can be difficult for some members to afford, the DGA Foundation has made arrangements to cover the $25 cost of a limited number of MPTF Bridge to Health visits for DGA members through a new card voucher program.
The $25 Bridge to Health cards will cover a basic healthcare visit at any of the six MPTF Health Care Centers. In addition, the Bridge to Health program will:
- Provide basic lab services at no extra charge, if necessary;
- Cover x-rays at no charge when performed at an MPTF radiology facility;
- Assist with obtaining low-cost prescription medications through MPTF pharmacy or other local pharmacies; and
- Direct the patient to specialty care resources in the community when specialty care and diagnostics are required.
To qualify, members must be DGA members in good standing and either have worked in the film and television industry and lost insurance coverage in the last three years, or have been a previous self-pay MPTF Health Center patient in the last three years.
