Director Jonah Hill discusses Mid90s

October 20, 2018 A DGA Q&A in New York

A young teen strives to navigate the bumpy road through urban adolescence in Director Jonah Hill’s new comedic-drama, Mid90s.

Hill’s film tells the story of thirteen-year-old Stevie, who is trying to grow up in 90s-era Los Angeles with a troubled home life and not a better outlook at school. He finally finds his place at a Motor Avenue skate shop where he is befriended by a crew of skateboarders. But Stevie is about to learn some tough lessons about class, race, and privilege in the City of Angels.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on October 20, Hill sat down with Director Spike Jonze (Her) to discuss the making of Mid90s. Hill previously discussed the making of the film in a conversation moderated by Director Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher) following the DGA membership screening in New York on October 12.

Mid90s is Hill’s feature directorial debut. He became a DGA member in 2017.
