Director Rebecca Miller discusses Maggie’s Plan

A woman concocts a scheme to reunite her new husband with his ex-wife in Director Rebecca Miller’s new romantic comedy Maggie’s Plan.

In Miller’s film, Maggie (Greta Gerwig) is a young and independent New Yorker whose original plan to become a single mother gets derailed when she falls for John (Ethan Hawke), an anthropologist whose marriage to the brilliant Columbia University Professor Georgette (Julianne Moore) is in shambles. After breaking up the marriage and marrying John, Maggie realizes she's fallen out of love with him and comes up with a new plan to get John back together with Georgette.

Following the screening on May 21 in the Guild’s New York Theater, Miller sat down with Director Robert Benton (Kramer vs. Kramer) to discuss the joys and challenges of making Maggie’s Plan.

In addition to Maggie’s Plan, Miller’s credits include the features The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, The Ballad of Jack and Rose, Personal Velocity: Three Portraits and Angela. She has been a DGA member since 2003.
