Director John Madden discusses Miss Sloane

November 6, 2016 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

A brilliant but ruthless lobbyist takes on the most powerful opponent of her career in Director John Madden’s new dramatic thriller, Miss Sloane.

Madden’s film unveils the high-stakes world of political power-brokers where Elizabeth Sloane (Jessica Chastain) is the most sought after and formidable lobbyist in D.C. Known equally for her talent and her desire to win at all costs, she takes on a case that not only jeopardizes those closest to her, but also puts her own career at risk.

Following the November 6 DGA membership screening in Los Angeles, Madden sat down with Director Jeremy Kagan (SHOT), to discuss the making of Miss Sloane.

In addition to Miss Sloane, Madden’s credits include the feature films Ethan Frome, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Proof and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel; the movies for television The Widowmaker, Prime Suspect: The Lost Child and Truth or Dare; the pilot episode of the series Masters of Sex; and episodes of the television series The Return of Sherlock Holmes, After the War and Inspector Morse. Madden was nominated for both the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures and the Oscar for Best Director for his 1998 feature Shakespeare in Love. He has been a DGA member since 1983.
