Hosted by the DGA AD/UPM Council East Member Education Committee, DGA Assistant Directors Training Program, and SAG-AFTRA New York Young Performers Committee, The Employment of Young Actors: What You Need to Know featured an in-depth discussion about the complex and sensitive rules and regulations that apply to the employment of young actors led by SAG-AFTRA’s Theatrical Contracts Director Stephanie Perry, Director National Field Services Jim Damis, Senior Business Representative Commercials and Corporate & Educational Non-Broadcast Contracts Angelica Criscuolo, Associate Director of Television Contracts Steven Meicke, Legal Counsel Huseina Sulaimanee, and New York State Department of Labor Senior Labor Standards Investigator Lori Roberts.

After a welcome from ADTP Administrator Sandra Forman, and a brief history of SAG-AFTRA from SAG-AFTRA National Board Member/New York Fourth Vice President and New York Young Performers Committee Co-Chair Holter Graham, the seminar focused on what DGA members need to know about the SAG-AFTRA agreements and the New York State Child Performer Education and Trust Act law and regulations. Some of the topics discussed included the TV/Theatrical and Commercials Contracts Employment of Minors provisions, child performer regulations by state, and the acquisition of contract waivers and variances. The session ended with the panelists answering questions submitted by the participants.
