IATSE Members Urge Oregon Senator to Support Legislation to Fight Internet Theft

March 31, 2011

Members of IATSE Local 488 working on the Portland set of television show "Leverage" appeal directly to U.S. Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon in a public service announcement urging the Senator to support legislation to fight rogue websites. Rogue websites are illegal websites that make money by trafficking in stolen content, much of it the films and television programs created by guild and union members. The PSA also highlights the entertainment industry's ability to provide good jobs with good wages, which are being threatened by the continued online looting of films and TV shows. IATSE's press release says, "This public service spot is meant to appeal directly to Sen. Wyden, with the hope that he will recognize the urgent need to pass legislation, like COICA, that will help protect their jobs."
