DGA Network News and Sports Negotiations to Begin in New York

November 12, 2007

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Directors Guild of America today announced that the DGA Network Negotiations Committee will begin negotiations with ABC, CBS and NBC tomorrow, Tuesday, November 13, 2007, in New York City.  These negotiations address the DGA’s agreement covering staff and freelance directors, associate directors and stage managers employed in news, sports and operations at the companies’ television networks and at a number of their locally owned and operated television stations.  The Network Agreements are separate from the Guild’s Basic Agreement and are negotiated every three years.

The negotiations will be headed by William M. Brady, chair of the DGA’s Network Negotiations Committee; Scott Berger, vice-chair and Russell Hollander, the DGA’s Eastern Executive Director.  The DGA’s current contract with the networks expires June 30, 2008.  Negotiations for the 2005 Agreement concluded in September of 2004.

The Networks and the DGA have agreed that they will not comment to the press until negotiations have concluded.
