Los Angeles, CA - The Directors Guild of America's National Executive Director, Jay D. Roth, issued the following statement today on the announcement of the retirement of Jack Valenti.
"There is no one – now, or maybe ever – that matches Jack's enthusiasm and commitment to the industry as a whole. Jack became an honorary life member of the DGA in 2001 for his passionate defense of directors, our industry, and of the craft of filmmaking. And for that he has earned the Guild's gratitude, respect and appreciation.
"I will miss the ever-valiant Valenti at the helm of the MPA – Jack's a loyal and true friend, but I know that those suffering from tuberculosis, malaria and AIDS need his skills even more."
