At the September 28 Directors Guild of America National Board meeting, director Michael Apted (Coal Miner's Daughter, The World is Not Enough and the 7 UP documentary series) was elected to serve as DGA Fifth Vice President, replacing director John Frankenheimer who died on July 6 of this year.
Apted has served as a member of the DGA's National Board and also serves on the Guild's Western Directors Council and Independent Directors Committee.
The Board also elected director Donald Petrie (Miss Congeniality) to fill Apted's seat on the Board. Director Michael Mann (The Last of the Mohicans, The Insider) was elected to fill Petrie's seat as an Alternate Member of the Board.
In other Board elections, UPM/AD Bob Jeffords was elected to serve as Associate Member of the National Board and UPM Cleve Landsberg was elected to serve as a National Board Second Alternate.
