DGA President Martha Coolidge on the Death of Lew Wasserman

June 03, 2002

"Lew's stature in Hollywood was without peer. His contributions to the industry and his passion for movies and the people who make them were immeasurable. Here at the DGA, he was a friend and a compatriot to many of us throughout the years. It was in recognition of all that he gave to us, that he was awarded in 1975 as an Honorary Life Member, the DGA's most prestigious honor given to a nonmember. We will miss him."

Martha Coolidge
President, Directors Guild of America
