DGA, SAG and WGA Meet with Bush Administration on War Against Terrorism

November 11, 2001

The Presidents and Executive Directors of the three entertainment industry guilds representing directors, performers and writers attended today’s (Nov. 11, 2001) presentation by the Bush Administration at the Peninsula Hotel. This is their statement:

“We appreciate the opportunity to be briefed by Karl Rove and other members of the Bush Administration on their efforts both home and abroad to keep people informed of all aspects of the war against terrorism. We are saddened that the terrible events of September 11 make such a meeting necessary.

“In the days ahead, the thousands of members represented by the leadership of the three guilds in attendance at this meeting will be addressing how they can most appropriately and effectively assist the country during this difficult time.”

Attending the meeting were:

  • Directors Guild of America (DGA): President Jack Shea and National Executive Director Jay Roth.
  • Screen Actors Guild (SAG): President Melissa Gilbert and National Executive Director Robert Pisano.
  • Writers Guild of America (WGA): President Victoria Riskin and National Executive Director John McLean.
