Directors Guild of America President Jack Shea announced today that the Guild’s Western Directors Council has finalized its membership for the 2001 DGA Western Directors Council.
“Under our Guild’s governing system, the Western Directors Council conducts DGA business on behalf of all directors in the western region. Over the next year, the Council will be looking at a multitude of issues large and small, including the negotiation of new contracts and the fight against runaway production,” said Shea. “Our 2001 Western Directors Council includes many of the busiest directors in our industry, and the DGA is fortunate that so many talented directors are continuing in the powerful tradition of Guild service begun by our Founding Fathers more than sixty-five years ago.”
Serving as Council members on the WDC are directors Michael Apted, LeVar Burton, Gil Cates, Jr., Martha Coolidge, Taylor Hackford, Walter Hill, Jeremy Kagan, Michael Lembeck, Michael Mann, Garry Marshall, Daniel Petrie Sr., Donald Petrie, Mark Rydell, Steven Soderbergh, Betty Thomas and Lili Zanuck.
Serving as Alternates are directors Robert Butler, Charles Haid, Randa Haines, Todd Holland, Randall Kleiser, Lee Shallat Chemel, Elliot Silverstein, Penelope Spheeris, Joan Tewkesbury and Jon Turteltaub.
Ex-Officio members of the WDC are Secretary-Treasurer Gil Cates, Vice Presidents John Frankenheimer and Paris Barclay and National Board members John Rich and Victoria Hochberg.
Past Presidents who are ex-officio members of the WDC include Gil Cates, Arthur Hiller, Delbert Mann, Gene Reynolds, George Sidney, Jud Taylor and Robert Wise.
