DGA San Francisco Coordinating Committee Elects New Executive Committee

SFCCMarch 16, 2001

DGA members in the San Francisco Bay Area have elected five members to serve two-year appointments on the Executive Committee of the Guild's San Francisco Coordinating Committee (SFCC), announced DGA President Jack Shea. The five newly elected committee members are Sharon Gerhard, David Hakim, Kevin McNamara, Bob Mooney, and John Morse. They join sitting members Janice Goto, Rufus Pederson, Frank Simeone and Michael Wilmot.

Of the newly elected members, only McNamara and Janice Goto have not served on the SFCC Executive Committee in the past. McNamara is a member relatively new to the Bay Area. Goto joined the Committee early this year, having replaced Michael Stearns.

During the last monthly meeting, officer elections were held. David Hakim was re-elected as Chairman, Rufus Pederson was elected as the new Vice-Chairman, Bob Mooney was re-elected to the post of Treasurer, and Frank Simeone was elected to the post of Secretary.

His term complete, previous Vice-Chairman Lope Yap Jr stepped down after a long tenure on the Executive Committee. Yap served the three consecutive terms allowed [six years], and so must take a year off in accordance with SFCC charter regulations.

The SFCC was formed in 1978 to coordinate Guild activities in the entire Bay Area region, including acting as liaison between members and the Guild, disseminating information, and promoting public awareness of the Guild.

The Executive Committee hosts a number of educational presentations and networking events during the year, in order to fulfill its objectives of facilitating the exchange of ideas among members, maintaining contacts with other guilds and unions, and furthering professional opportunities for all Northern California members.
