DGA President Jack Shea and National Vice President Ed Sherin announced today that the membership has voted to authorize a multi-million dollar renovation of the Guild’s New York Headquarters. The modernization plans will transform the building into a first-class office building and provide both technical and aesthetic upgrades to its theater facilities and building systems.
"This is great news for all DGA members," said Shea. "Our newly improved building will help send the message to the entire entertainment industry that there is a growing spirit of leadership and national cooperation within the Directors Guild."
Sherin commented that, "The DGA New York Headquarters will become a leading center for film and television in the Eastern Region of the United States."
The Guild’s National Building Committee and professional consultants have prepared a renovation plan that will provide the DGA with appropriate offices and meeting rooms to accommodate DGA membership needs, including the requirements of Eastern Region Councils and Committees as well as Guild staff. In addition, the renovation will provide a facility that will attract A-Level tenants for both office use and a possible retail component.
The renovation plans include technical and aesthetic upgrades to the theater and reception facilities to properly service the DGA membership and the Eastern Region production community. Finally, the makeover will include a renovation of the exterior façade of the building and expansion of the office and theater lobbies.
