Directors Guild of America National Executive Director Jay D. Roth today announced the creation of a new DGA Department of Communications & Public Affairs and the appointment of longtime DGA public relations consultant Charles S. "Chuck" Warn as executive in charge of the new department.
"The Directors Guild has grown in recent years to a national membership which is now well beyond ten thousand," said Roth. "Our new Communications & Public Affairs department will allow us to better serve the interests of all DGA members. Chuck Warn has served as public relations director of the Guild since 1981, and will now add his unique talents full-time to our management team."
The DGA Department of Communications & Public Affairs will have responsibility for publishing the DGA Magazine, DGA Calendar and annual Directory of Members; promotion and news marketing of DGA Public Affairs; national DGA media relations; expansion of the DGA Internet Homepage on the World Wide Web; and DGA public communications and advertising campaigns.
"The DGA is filled with a treasury of true visionaries, and it has been my great honor to serve the Guild and its members from the outside for fifteen years," commented Warn. "In my new position as a member of the Guild's management team, I look forward to working even closer with my friends and colleagues at the DGA to further the extraordinary history of one of our industry's most remarkable organizations."

Chuck Warn is President of WARN COMMUNICATIONS GROUP, a Los Angeles based public relations firm specializing in communications campaigns for entertainment industry clients. The firm utilizes state-of-the-art technology to raise public awareness levels or move public opinon as determined by the unique objectives of each campaign.
Mr. Warn has served as Director of Public Relations for the Directors Guild of America since 1981. In this capacity, he serves as primary media contact and spokesman for the Guild on issues ranging from industry trends to artists rights as well as the DGA Annual Awards celebrating outstanding
Chuck Warn also served as Executive in Charge of Public for the producer of the 62nd, 63rd, 64th, 65th, 66th and 67th Annual Academy Awards telecasts. During this period, the Oscar show enjoyed a resurrection of public and industry acclaim, culminating in 1995 with the highest rated Academy Awards telecast in 12 years.
Warn is a native of Toledo, Ohio and studied government and politics at the University of Maryland. A stint as a student volunteer on Sen. Robert F. Kennedy's presidential campaign in 1968 inspired Warn to become a national political campaign consultant for more than fifteen years.
