As we welcome 2026, the DGA and the other unions and guilds in the Entertainment Union Coalition (EUC) are asking members to share their stories of going to work on productions that are receiving the expanded California film and TV tax credit.
As you know, the DGA and the EUC were instrumental in expanding the program to maintain entertainment jobs in the state of California. Sharing your stories will help elected officials see the working Californians this program supports.
To keep this momentum going, we are asking you to post about your production by sharing behind-the-scenes moments that highlight how the tax credit helped make your project possible and why keeping film and TV in California matters.
The DGA and the EUC have created a social media toolkit to provide guidance for creating social media posts that highlight the Keep California Rolling campaign, and the role of labor in supporting your production. Posts should feel authentic and organic, celebrating your work while acknowledging the impact of the tax credit.
HOW TO STRUCTURE YOUR POSTS:
Your Posts Should Include (3) Components:
- A short caption
- Tags and hashtags
- A few on-set photos. If you have a still photographer on set, please ask them to take the photos and be sure to credit them. We want to highlight the real people working on our sets.
1. Caption Guidance:
Write one to three sentences about your project, choosing present tense if you are starting production and past tense if you have wrapped. Focus on the excitement of the work and how the tax credit made it possible.
Tone to Aim For
- Authentic
- Grateful but not overly promotional
- Centered on your production and team.
2. Tag your Union/Guild, Elected Leaders & Your Production:
Tagging ensures your post is visible to partner unions participating in the Entertainment Union Coalition.
Mandatory Hashtags
- #KeepCaliforniaRolling
- #EntertainmentUnionCoalition
Additional Optional Hashtags
- #[YourProject]
- #[ProductionLocation] (e.g., #LA, #Hollywood, #BayArea)
- #[RelevantThemes]
Tag your Union/Guild
- Tagging @directorsguild will allow us to amplify your post
- #Tag @CAGovernor OR
- Find your local representatives at https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/
3. Include Photos / Videos of your Crew & Cast:
Choose 1-5 production photos that show:
- Behind-the-scenes moments
- Your cast and crew at work
- Positive, collaborative energy on set
- Any meaningful production moments (no spoilers!)
Avoid: heavy promotional graphics, unreleased IP, or anything restricted by your studio/network.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Your post should highlight your production first, with the tax credit mentioned naturally as a support.
- Posts should not read like advertisements. Authenticity is key.
- Once posted, we may repost on union channels, giving your project additional visibility.
- If possible, post on Instagram where it can easily be reshared.
It’s critical that we show elected leaders and our communities the positive impact these productions bring, the work created, the creativity sparked, and the economic benefits that flow to California families.
