DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter and National Executive Director Russell Hollander Meet with Members in Australia & New Zealand

From August 17-25, DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter and National Executive Director Russell Hollander were welcomed as guests of the Australian Directors Guild (ADG) and the Directors and Editors Guild of Aotearoa New Zealand (DEGANZ). They used the opportunity to visit with DGA members living abroad, and to strengthen cooperation between the Guild and its sister organizations down under. The trip was a chance to support these members and to hear from them about how the DGA can best support their work living and working outside the United States.

While in Sydney, Glatter also engaged in a special in-conversation event for the ADG that focused on television directing and her DGA and Emmy-Award winning career, moderated by local Director Corrie Chen.

Glatter and Hollander’s visit to New Zealand coincided with the local government’s review of the Copyright Act of 1994. In addition to meeting with local DGA members in Auckland, they also met with DEGANZ Executive Director Tui Ruwhiu and New Zealand’s Minister for Arts, Culture & Heritage, Paul Goldsmith, to discuss the current situation of the US screen industry, copyright issues and protection of artists’ rights. Glatter was also a guest speaker for DEGANZ Selects, a master class discussion for that organization moderated by local Director Rob Sarkies.
