Did you know that in order for your project to be eligible for the California Tax Incentive, Version 4.0., it is now mandatory to hire a qualified Safety Advisor? A contact list of eligible Safety Advisors, is available on the CSATF website at: www.csatf.org/safety-advisor_training_completion_list/
The individuals on the CSATF list have submitted documentation including: claimed work experience that they assert meets the requirements set forth in California Labor Code § 9151(k), proof of completion of OSHA’s 30-hour General Industry Training course, and have completed the mandatory Contract Services training courses designated by the Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee. The Committee reviews all resumes and documents submitted to CSATF before anyone is granted approval to move forward in the Safety Advisor Training Program.
The DGA has played a leadership role in the creation and implementation of the Safety Advisor Training Program and is still participating in the oversight of the new program in California. During our last round of negotiations, the Guild also negotiated contract language to implement a Safety Advisor Pilot Program in Georgia and New York modeled after, but separate from, the California legislation. In in both of those states, each major studio must employ a Safety Advisor on one feature length project shooting. The Georgia and New York pilot program, which the DGA will push to extend, began on July 1, 2025 and ends on June 30, 2026.
