On March 21, 2011, DGA National Executive Director Jay D. Roth announced the promotion of Guild veteran Joyce Baron to the position of Assistant Executive Director, Research and Strategic Analysis.
"I'm pleased to announce the promotion of Joyce Baron to Assistant Executive Director, Research and Strategic Analysis," said Roth. "As the DGA has dedicated additional resources in recent years to comprehensive, up-to-the-minute research, Joyce has been an extremely valuable member of our team. Her work with our outside consultants was vital in developing the Guild's understanding of the issues which will shape our industry for years to come, especially as they related to negotiations, and as part of the DGA’s senior management team, we will continue to rely on Joyce to assist us in preparation for whatever challenges may lie ahead."
Baron joined the DGA in 2000 as Director of Research and Policy Analysis. She is responsible for managing a range of research services for the Guild, focusing on issues related to collective bargaining, government and international affairs, strategic planning, communications and member services.
In her new position, she will continue to identify and analyze trends that impact the entertainment industry; initiate research studies, develop research models and prepare reports; oversee data collection and analysis; and manage outside research consultants hired by the Guild.
Before joining the DGA, Baron worked as a television producer and writer, specializing in health and medical programming and commercials. She holds a Masters in Public Policy from UCLA's School of Public Policy and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
