The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland (SDGI) has chosen director Ken Wardrop's feature documentary His & Hers as the winner of its Directors Finders Series 2009.
The film will be screened at the DGA's Los Angeles Theatre on August 7, 2009 as part of the International Association of English Speaking Directors Organizations (IAESDO) Screening Series. The DGA hosts this series as part of its support for IAESDO, which represents director's organizations in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, The United Kingdom, and the USA.
His & Hers explores woman's relationship with man by visiting moments from the lives of 70 female characters. Shot in the Irish Midlands, the story moves sequentially from young to old to explore the subject of sharing life's journey.
The IAESDO Screening Series is based on the DGA's own successful model, the Director's Finder Screening Series, which spotlights undistributed low budget and/or independent feature films directed by DGA members. The DGA invited the other members of IAESDO to present films from their countries that have never been released in the USA. Previous winners from the SDGI are Tomm Moore's The Secret of Kells in 2008; Tom Collins' Kings in 2007; Niall Heery's Small Engine Repair and Damon Silvester's Aroma in 2006; and Perry Ogden's Pavee Lackeen in 2005.
