Morgan Rumpf Promoted to Assistant Executive Director/Communications

August 01, 2007

DGA National Executive Director Jay D. Roth recently announced the promotion of Guild executive Morgan Rumpf to the newly created position of Assistant Executive Director/ Communications. Previously, Rumpf had been serving as the DGA’s Director of Communications and Media Relations.

“We have been very fortunate to have Morgan serve the DGA membership for more than 4 years as our communications executive,” said Roth. “In his new role of Assistant Executive Director, he will use his experience and skills as a member of our senior management team.”

Rumpf will continue to guide the DGA’s Communications Department, where he is responsible for all internal and external Guild communications, including the publication of the DGA Quarterly, DGA Monthly, Directory of Members, and supervising the DGA website, as well as all press and media relations.

Rumpf has an extensive background in media, nonprofit management and independent filmmaking. Rumpf served for five years as executive director of Outfest: the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, which became the largest film festival in Los Angeles under his tenure. Previous to Outfest, Rumpf was lead trainer for the Arts Leadership Initiative, a training program for business seeking to become effective board members for nonprofit arts organizations. Immediately prior to joining the DGA, Rumpf served as a consultant to a consortium of six nonprofit independent film organizations exploring the possibility of consolidating fundraising and programming efforts.

“DGA members inspire and entertain millions worldwide through their unique creative vision and uncompromising leadership,” Rumpf said, adding, “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Guild members in our mission to protect and foster the creative and economic rights of directors and their teams.”

Rumpf is an alumnus of UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a graduate of the intensive nine-month, non-partisan, leadership-training program in public affairs conducted by Coro Southern California.
