On June 25, the Jewish Committee’s meeting featured the discussion, Organizations Supporting Jewish Directors & Hollywood Creatives. In a conversation moderated by Director Gregg Simon (Captive); Jewish Entertainment Alliance Executive Director Malina Saval; Project Shema’s Director of Education Daniel Bral & Vice President of DEI April Powers; Jewish Story Partners Co-Founder Roberta Grossman; and Jewish Film Institute’s Director of Filmmaker Services Marcia Jarmel discussed how their organizations are working to strengthen Jewish representation, expand access and opportunity, combat antisemitism, foster community, and support Jewish creatives and storytelling across film, television and beyond.
The conversation also explored the growing ecosystem of support for Jewish creatives in Hollywood and covered the resources now available to DGA members and other Jewish creatives, including advocacy efforts, educational initiatives, funding opportunities, filmmaker support, and community-building programs designed to help artists navigate the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.
About the Jewish Committee
In February 2024, the DGA National Board granted provisional status to a new committee to address various issues of concern to the DGA’s Jewish members, including issues related to employment and rising anti-Semitism in the workplace and its impact on film and television. Members wishing to join the Jewish Committee will need to self-identify via their account settings. They may also opt to receive email about the events and meetings for any of the Guild’s Diversity Committees by updating their email addresses and subscription preferences as part of Email Settings in their personal account.
