On June 3, new and veteran Assistant Directors and Unit Production Managers gathered both online and in the DGA’s New York boardroom to receive valuable information about the workings of their Guild during a Navigating the DGA orientation event. Hosted by the Eastern AD/UPM Council's Member Education Committee, the orientation was the opportunity to hear instructive and educational discussions about a variety of issues that affect AD/UPMs, delivered by Council members and DGA staff.
Following a welcome from the Council's 2024-2025 1st Vice Chair Tom Whelan, the live and online reports included: an overview of the workings of the Guild from Assistant Executive Director Mary Hatch and Contracts Coordinator Maura De Rose; Council Member Lyn Pinezich on the governance of the Guild and its committees; Council Member Steven Lafferty on member privileges and benefits; Council Member Louis Guerra on the responsibilities of DGA members; and a brief tour of the services available on the DGA website from DGA staff member Stephen Hassett.
The orientation concluded with a Q&A session where the participants were able to have their questions addressed by experienced members and DGA staff. Afterwards, everyone was also invited to stay for the monthly Council meeting that followed.
