Set/Life Balance: Deciding on Parenthood with the DGA’s New Parental Leave Benefit

On June 25, the Focus on Women Committee (FOWC) online meeting featured the discussion, Set/Life Balance: Deciding on Parenthood with the DGA’s New Parental Leave Benefit.

During a discussion moderated by FOWC Co-Chair Joan Bostwick, Director Erin Feeley and 2nd ADs Kristin Bernstein, Abi O’Reilly and Chelsea Petrucci got the conversation going by sharing their experiences as working parents, the challenges of balancing life on set and at home, and how the Guild’s new parental leave benefit can help support members who want to be parents.

Bostwick opened the discourse into a roundtable discussion where all the meeting attendees could join in and share their experiences and ask questions of each other.

DGA Field Rep Meghan Brophy also reported on the Guild's new parental leave benefit which provides partial income replacement for DGA members who take leave from employment to bond with their newborn, newly adopted, or newly fostered child. Click here for more information about this benefit.

About the Committee:

Originally a sub-committee of the Eastern Directors Council, in 2020 the Focus on Women Committee (FOWC) was designated an official and permanent committee of the DGA National Board for women members residing in the Eastern Region. The Committee would like to remind members that while their events are designed with a special focus on women Directors, all DGA members are welcome to attend.
