Beyond the Big Apple: Meet the Commissioners

On January 23, AD/UPM members, received valuable information from regional film commissioners during the online event, Eastern Region Production Beyond the Big Apple: Meet the Commissioners. Hosted by the Eastern AD/UPM Council’s newly-formed Eastern Regional Committee, the event featured a discussion with film commissioners from various areas of the Eastern Region, as well as a presentation from Eastern AD/UPM Council Chair Lyn Pinezich regarding the representation of members in the Guild.

Following a welcome from Eastern Regional Committee Chair Alison Rosa, comments from Pinezich about this new committee, and DGA staff introductions, the event was turned over to 2nd AD Kristina Peterson.

Peterson served as moderator for a discussion with film office representatives: Sharon Pinkenson (Greater Philadelphia), Kwame Amoaku (Chicago), Peter Hawley (Illinois), Andy Edmunds (Virginia), Jack Gerbes (Maryland), Chris Stelly (Louisiana), Lee Thomas (Georgia) and Johnny Griffin (Wilmington, NC), where they described the unique benefits that attract production to their jurisdictions and answered questions on topics including how their region and local production has been impacted by COVID-19.

In the second segment of the day, moderated by 1st AD and Eastern Regional Committee Co-Chair John Rusk, Pinezich discussed how she first became involved in the Council, outlined the Guild’s governing mechanisms, and shared with members how they can get more involved in the Guild and AD/UPM Council committees.


About the Council

The Eastern AD/UPM Council is the elected body that represent the Assistant Director and Unit Production Manager members of the Guild who work in film, television, commercials and new media.
