An art discovery spells doom for those who would profit from the artist’s demise in Director Dan Gilroy’s new satirical horror, Velvet Buzzsaw.
Set in the contemporary art world scene of Los Angeles, Gilroy’s film tells the story of what happens when art collides with commerce after a series of paintings by an unknown artist are discovered and a supernatural force exacts revenge on those who have allowed their greed to get in the way of art.
Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on February 10, Gilroy sat down with Director Gavin O’Connor (Torrance) to discuss the making of Velvet Buzzsaw.
In addition to Velvet Buzzsaw, Gilroy’s credits include the feature films Roman J. Israel, Esq., and Nightcrawler. He has been a DGA member since 2013.
