Director Lynne Ramsay discusses You Were Never Really Here

A missing persons locator finds himself embroiled in a case that may cost him his life in Director Lynne Ramsay’s new mystery-thriller, You Were Never Really Here.

Based on the novel by Jonathan Ames, Ramsay’s film tells the story of Joe, a traumatized veteran who tracks down missing girls for a living. But when he takes the case of finding the daughter of a rising politician who’s running for the Senate, he uncovers a conspiracy that may either lead to his awakening, or his death.

On April 8, following the DGA membership screening in New York, Ramsay sat down with Director Maggie Greenwald (Sophie and the Rising Sun) to discuss the making of You Were Never Really Here.

In addition to You Were Never Really Here, Ramsay’s credits include the feature films We Need to Talk About Kevin, Morvern Callar, Ratcatcher and the BAFTA Award-winning short, Swimmer. Ramsay has been a DGA member since 2010.
