Director Jon Favreau returns to his indie film roots in his new feature Chef.
In the film both written by and starring Favreau, he portrays Carl Casper, a talented chef who finally quits his creatively stifling job at a top restaurant and seeks to reconnect with both his passion for cooking and his nearly estranged family by starting up a food truck business.
Favreau spoke about the making of Chef in a conversation moderated by DGA President Paris Barclay following the May 16 DGA Membership screening in Los Angeles.
In addition to Chef, Favreau's filmography includes the feature films Made, Elf, Zathura: A Space Adventure, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Cowboys & Aliens; the movies for television Smog, Life on Parole and Bad Cop, Bad Cop; the pilots for the series In Case of Emergency, Revolution and About a Boy; and episodes of the series Undeclared, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Office. He has been a member of the DGA since 1997.
