On April 28, the Third Annual Directors Guild Foundation (DGF) Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament took place at DGA headquarters in Los Angeles. The tables filled and the excitement built as 275 DGA members, guests and sponsors assembled for an evening of fun and competition.

“Tonight is all about coming together to enjoy an evening of spirited competition, prizes and camaraderie with all proceeds going to support the good work of the DGF,” said tournament Co-Chair Donald Petrie, as he and Co-Chair Gil Cates, Jr. welcomed the players.

Before the first hand was dealt, they acknowledged the tournament’s host committee, the impressive list of sponsors, and all the individuals whose participation made the evening possible. There was also a special nod to two missing giants, Past President, Gil Cates, Sr., and past DGF Chairman and 2011 second place poker champion, John Rich.

“Everyone here tonight is here in support of your brothers and sisters in the DGA,” added Cates. “Good luck…and we’ll see you at the Final Table!”

After several hours of friendly play, the finalists’ table was winnowed down to two: David Henrie, a guest of director Alejandro Monteverde and Eddie Goldstone, a guest of bronze sponsor Keller Williams Realty. Henrie drew the winning hand and received the 2012 DGF Poker Tournament Champion Bracelet and was awarded the grand prize: a seat in a 2012 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Texas Hold’em Event in Las Vegas along with a three-night stay at the tournament site, the Rio Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas, as well as other prizes.
