2011 IFTA Mixer at the DGA

On November 30, the DGA’s Independent Directors Committee West (IDCw) and The Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) presented the panel discussion/networking mixer Constant Change: A Glimpse at Independent Film’s Ever-Evolving Marketplace, in the Guild's Los Angeles Boardroom.

The event was designed to educate DGA members about the current market trends in film financing and distribution. The evening also served as an informal setting for these members to make contact with executives from independent production companies.

Following a check-in period where the invited DGA members signed up for breakout sessions, there was a brief panel discussion about the current state of the industry and predictions on where it's headed in the very near future. The panelists were Maya Entertainment Group’s Vice-President of International Distribution Jack Campbell; Myriad Pictures’ President Kirk D’Amico; CineTel Films’ Partner Lisa Hansen; Artist View Entertainment’s Vice-President Jay Joyce; Lionsgate International’s President Helen Lee Kim; The Exchange, Inc.’s CEO Brian O'Shea; and GK Films’ President of International Distribution Lisa Wilson.

After the discussion the attendees engaged in break-out sessions with the panelists before everyone reconvened in the boardroom for a cocktail reception.

In addition to the IDCw and DGA staff, the organizers of the event included IFTA President and CEO Jean Prewitt and American Film Market Executive Vice-President and Managing Director, Jonathan Wolf.
