New East Coast AD/UPM members were given a basic primer on the workings of their Guild on December 14, 2010 at the Eastern AD/UPM Council's Navigating the DGA new member orientation.

Held in the boardroom of the Guild's New York offices, the evening gave them the opportunity to meet their Council members and DGA staff who spoke to them about the privileges and responsibilities of membership, the DGA's collective bargaining agreements, and a variety of issues that affect Assistant Directors and Unit Production Managers. The speakers also divulged basic facts about the Guild, its governance, its contracts and member benefits.

After the seminar, the attendees were also invited to the Eastern AD/UPM Council meeting, which took place immediately after the orientation.
