IDA Awards 2010

The DGA's Los Angeles theater complex was the site of the International Documentary Association's (IDA) 2010 Awards Ceremony that was held on December 3, 2010. The DGA is a sponsor of the event.

The celebration was hosted by DGA member Morgan Spurlock whose feature Super Size Me earned an IDA nomination in 2004. Spurlock and IDA Board President Eddie Schmidt kept the program lively punctuating the show with skits that imitated scenes from films nominated for the Distinguished Feature Documentary Award.

DGA member Barbara Kopple was honored with the IDA's Career Achievement Award. Kopple is a two-time winner of the DGA's Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Award with American Dream in 1991 and Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson in 1993, as well as the DGA's Dramatic Series Night award for her Homicide: Life on the Street episode "The Documentary" in 1997.
