On November 9, following their monthly meeting at the DGA's Los Angeles headquarters, the Women's Steering Committee (WSC) hosted the panel discussion The Art of Shadowing.

The event was an exploration of all the things that can be gleaned by observing another director as they work on a project. The panel consisted of Director/WSC Co-Chair Tawnia McKiernan (Warehouse 13, Royal Pains, In Plain Sight), Director John Kretchmer (Army Wives, Covert Affairs, Burn Notice), 1st AD Carol Green (Hellcats, Private Practice, House MD) and Actor Kristen Nelson (Psych, Eli Stone, Malcolm in the Middle). The panelists gave their insights into how to make the best use of time as a guest on someone else’s set from the perspective of their various areas of expertise. The discussion was moderated by Director/WSC Co-Chair Janice Cooke (Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210).
