IAESDO Screening Series presents Irish Film "The Runway" Directed by Ian Power

On October 1, the DGA screened Director Ian Power's feature film The Runway at the Guild's theatre complex in Los Angeles.

The film is based on the true story of a South American pilot who crashed his plane near County Cork in 1983. He is adopted by a fatherless young boy who convinces the local community to build a runway to get the pilot safely home, an undertaking that briefly caught the imagination of the nation.

The Runway was presented by the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland as part of the International Association of English Speaking Directors Organisations (IAESDO) Screening Series. The DGA invited the other members of IAESDO to select films not yet released in the United States for screening at the Guild via the Director's Finder Series, which spotlights undistributed low budget and/or independent feature films directed by DGA members.

Following the screening, Power participated in a Q&A session moderated by DGA/SDGI member Jim Sheridan (In America, The Boxer, My Left Foot).
