On October 7, the Documentary Series screened Director Charles Ferguson's feature Inside Job in the Guild's Los Angeles Theatre.
Set against the backdrop of the global financial meltdown that resulted in millions of people losing their homes and jobs and is estimated to have cost a staggering $20 trillion, the film traces the rise of rogue elements in the financial industry and unveils the destructive relationships that have corrupted politics, regulation and academia. Inside Job features interviews with major financial insiders, politicians and journalists, and was one of the most-discussed films at the 2010 Cannes Festival.
After the screening, Ferguson, whose film No End in Sight was nominated for the 2008 Best Documentary Oscar, discussed the making of Inside Job with Documentary Series Sub-Committee Chair Chuck Workman (Precious Images).
