Following a welcome from AD/UPM East Council Welcome, Orientation, Education and Mentorship Committee Co-Chair Michael Reichman, Eastern Assistant Executive Director Jean Frost gave an overview of the functions of the DGA and the collective bargaining agreements.
DGA National Board Member & Ex-Officio AD/UPM East Council member Steve Glanzrock spoke about the governance of the Guild, and DGA Field Rep Erica Koenig explained how the DGA Contracts Department and Field Reps work together to protect the membership.
Reichman teamed up with AD/UPM East Council First Vice Chair Rebecca Strickland to discuss the subject of Member Responsibilities & Privileges; then Associate National Board Member Mary Rae Thewlis detailed the benefits available to members via the DGA-Producer Pension & Health Plans, and DGA Fourth Vice President Gary Donatelli explained the workings of the DGA PAC.
Council member Monty Diamond spoke about how to get involved and stay involved with the Guild, and Council member Trish Adlesic explained the importance of maintaining good community relations.
The ever important subjects of Landing the Job & Preparing for Slow Times were addressed by Council members Betsy Friedman-Palmieri and Alison Rosa.
The program ended with a general Q&A and discussion session moderated by Reichman, where the members were able to have their questions addressed by the speakers and DGA Staff. The participants were also invited to the Eastern AD/UPM Council meeting, which took place immediately following the orientation.
