DGA Welcomes 26th Annual Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival

From April 29 - May 8, Visual Communications presented a program of feature films, shorts and videos during the 26th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF).

Since its inception in 1983, the LAAPFF has presented over 3,000 films and videos by international Asian and Asian American artists, along with seminars, guest appearances, and filmmaker awards. This year's LAAPFF screened films at various venues such as the DGA, Laemmle's Sunset 5 Theatres, Downtown Independent Theatre, The National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, and the Aratani/Japan America Theatre. The LAAPFF is also a highlight of the month-long Asian Pacific Heritage Month activities.

As part of its continuing outreach to independent filmmakers on April 30, the Guild hosted a brunch for LAAPFF filmmakers, where DGA Asian American Committee Co-Chair Chris Tashima and Director Sandy Tung answered questions about the advantages of Guild membership. Also in attendance was director Freida Lee Mock, whose documentaries Lt. Watada and Sing China! were screened at the festival.

For the past 15 years, the DGA has been a sponsor of LAAPFF.
