On April 19, 2010, the DGA's Ethnic Diversity Steering Committee (EDSC) hosted a "Showrunners Event" at the Guild's New York building. The invitation only event - part of the Guild's initiative to improve diversity in industry hiring practices - was designed to introduce qualified female directors and directors of color to executives in episodic television.
Directors and production executives networked during a cocktail reception followed by introductions from EDSC Co-Chairs Daniel Cooperbey, Zetna Fuentes and Rolando Hudson and Assistant Executive Director Neil Dudich. The event then broke into a series of brief meetings during which directors were able to meet one-on-one with the program executives of their choice. Episodic programs presently shooting in New York were represented at the event by showrunners and executives:
- April Coleman & Carol-Lynn Parente (Sesame Street)
- Amy Kaufman (Gossip Girl)
- Brooke Kennedy (The Good Wife)
- Jeff King (White Collar)
- Carol Klein (Electric Company)
- Michael Rauch (Royal Pains)
- Don Scardino (30 Rock)
