The DGA's San Francisco Coordinating Committee (SFCC) welcomed DGA members from all categories to their Annual General Membership Meeting and Reception on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Bay area Guild members assembled at San Francisco's Concordia-Argonaut Club, for a cocktail reception before SFCC Chair Tim Boxell called the meeting to order.
Visiting from Guild headquarters in Los Angeles, DGA Western Executive Director Bryan Unger gave a report that covered a variety of subjects including preparations for the upcoming negotiations, the effectiveness of production incentive programs, and the impact of the new federal healthcare bill on the Guild's health plan. Also in attendance from the LA Headquarters was DGA Assistant Executive Director Rodney Mitchell.
SFCC member Frank Simeone read the Production Information list, which details productions occurring in the Bay Area, and Education and Mentoring Committee Chair Jana Spotts reported on the success of the recent Dolby Sound Seminar, and plans for an upcoming seminar on 3D. Plans for the SFCC Mixer scheduled for Wednesday, October 13, 2010 were also discussed. In honor of the late SFCC member Rufus Pederson, it was decided to continue to introduce each DGA member screening with the "Rufus Pederson Memorial Anecdote" which entertains the audience with a little known fact about the film's development or production process.
Elections were then held for four spots on the SFCC Executive Committee Board with Directors William Gazecki and Carolina Zorrilla de San Martin and 2nd AD Jason Halley joining the board as newcomers and SFCC member Gino Caputi being re-elected.
The meeting concluded with the DGA executives answering various questions from the members before everyone relaxed and networked in the reception that followed.
