DGA members seeking to learn more about what it takes to be a Reality Television director were able to hear about the challenges unique to this genre during the Women's Steering Committee's (WSC) The Reality of Reality TV panel discussion. The event took place in the Guild's Los Angeles Boardroom on Tuesday, November 17, following the monthly WSC meeting and was open to all Guild members.
The panel was comprised of directors with years of experience in this field and featured Rick Telles (Road Rules), Jeannie O'Neill (Last Comic Standing), Neil DeGroot (The Biggest Loser), Amy Elkins (America's Next Top Model), Scott Messick (Survivor), and Bertram van Munster (The Amazing Race). These experts shared their knowledge in a forum co-moderated by directors Gayle Galvez (Race for the Cure) and Donna Kanter (Rescue 911). After the discussion, the attendees had the opportunity have their own specific questions about the world of Reality TV addressed by the panel.
