On November 17, 2009, the DGA’s Eastern Directors Council (EDC) held the fourth installment of its Focus on Women series with a panel discussion on the art of pitching a project in the boardroom of the Guild’s New York offices.

Following introductions by EDC member Linda Laundra (All My Children), Director/Producer Brooke Kennedy (Pushing Daisies) moderated the panel that featured Director Lara Shapiro (Labor Pains) and Producers Rachel Horovitz (Grey Gardens), Robert Kessel (Trucker) and Howard Gertler (World’s Greatest Dad). These experts provided insights about what is entailed in the process from both sides of the transom, and offered advice on how a Director can meet this challenge successfully.
