On Wednesday, November 11, DGA members and their guests attended the 15th Annual DGA Student Film Awards Ceremony for African American, Asian American, Latino and Women Filmmakers at the DGA theatre complex in Los Angeles.
The awards are designed to honor, encourage and bring attention to outstanding minority and women directors in film schools and select universities across the country. The winners were selected by blue ribbon panels comprised of DGA members. After a welcome message and introductions by DGA Past President Gene Reynolds and Gail Duncan of Eastman Kodak, each of the winning films was screened before the awards ceremony. Winners received a prize of $2,500 from the DGA along with a product grant valued at $750 provided by Kodak’s Worldwide Student Film Program. A product grant valued at $250 was awarded to each Jury Award recipient.
