In another outreach effort aimed at independent filmmakers, the Guild participated in this year's Sundance Institute Directors Lab.
During this year's program, eight emerging filmmakers were provided with an opportunity to develop distinctive new works under the guidance of accomplished creative advisors in an environment that encouraged innovation, collaboration, and risk-taking. On Thursday, June 18, DGA Independent Directors Committee member Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) spoke to the Lab fellows about the benefits of DGA membership.
Founded by DGA member Robert Redford in 1981, Sundance Institute is a not-for-profit organization that fosters the development of original storytelling in film and theatre, and presents the annual Sundance Film Festival.
