On May 14, the DGA's Eastern Directors Council (EDC) held the third installment of its Focus on Women series with a panel discussion on the challenges of getting the job, doing the job and getting asked back for a second time.
Following introductions by EDC member Linda Laundra (All My Children), EDC member/DGA Board Alternate Laura Belsey (Katrina's Children) moderated the panel that featured DGA director-member Rosemary Rodriguez (Rescue Me), UPM-members Mary Rae Thewlis (Law and Order: Criminal Intent) and Greer Yeaton (Damages), producer Irene Burns (30 Rock) and American Movie Classics entertainment executive Susan Goldberg. These experts provided insights from about the challenges a director encounters in television after being hired and offered from many perspectives advice on things to do and to avoid that might impact on a return engagement on an episodic television program.
