Showrunners Diversity Mixer in New York

On Tuesday, March 3, the DGA and its Ethnic Diversity Steering Committee (EDSC) hosted a "Showrunners Event" at the DGA's New York offices, as part of the Guild's ongoing efforts to improve diversity in the industry.

The invitation only event was designed to expose qualified female and minority directors to executives from episodic television for possible employment during the upcoming television season.

Following an introduction from EDSC Co-Chair Zetna Fuentes and Assistant Executive Director Neil Dudich, directors and production executives networked during a cocktail reception in the Guild's boardroom. The event then broke into a series of brief interviews during which directors were able to meet one-on-one with the program executives of their choice. Eight of the episodic programs presently shooting in New York were represented at the event by showrunners and executives:

  • Paris Barclay (In Treatment)
  • Fred Berner: (Law & Order)
  • John Coles (Law & Order: Criminal Intent)
  • Karen Fowler (Electric Company)
  • Tom Sellitti (Rescue Me)
  • Ted Kotcheff (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit)
  • Jerry Kupfer (30 Rock)
  • Kathy Ciric (Nurse Jackie)
