Screening of David Fincher's Se7en

On Friday, January 16, 2009, the DGA's London Coordinating Committee (LCC) treated the UK's DGA-member audience to an import from across the pond in the form of David Fincher's gripping crime thriller Se7en. The screening was the inaugural LCC version of the DGA's successful "Under the Influence" series which features seminal films from the past, followed by a post-screening dialogue between the film's director and an independent filmmaker who has been influenced by that work.

Made in 1995, Se7en follows two detectives (Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman) on the trail of an enigmatic serial killer whose horrific murders are based on the seven deadly sins. Fincher's second feature, the film gave notoriety to a director with a sophisticated style and penetrating vision and his inventive approach greatly influenced music videos and other films of the same genre.

After the screening, LCC Co-Chair Jim Gillespie (Venom) engaged Fincher in a stirring discussion about the making of the film.
