The DGA's Independent Directors Committees (IDC) hosted receptions for Sundance Film Festival filmmakers at the Guild's headquarters in Los Angeles and New York.

In Los Angeles on December 9, Sundance's Festival Director Geoff Gilmore and other Sundance staffers offered survival tips to the filmmakers and DGA IDC member Patricia Cardoso (Real Women Have Curves) gave the audience the benefit of her own festival experience and spoke about the advantages of Guild membership. In New York on December 16, Sundance's Programming Director John Cooper handled the festival advisory duties while DGA East Coast IDC member Mary Harron (The Notorious Bettie Page) gave the participating filmmakers insight about the DGA.
