During a DGA reception on Saturday, June 7 at the Sundance Institute Directors Lab, DGA Director-member Thomas Carter (Coach Carter) spoke to the lab attendees about the benefits of DGA membership.
2008 Los Angeles Film Festival
On Thursday, June 19, the Guild hosted a luncheon for directors with films in the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival (LAFF). DGA Independent Directors Committee member Robert M. Young (Below the Belt) spoke to the participants about the advantages of membership in the Guild, and 2006 DGA Feature Film Award Nominees Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine) were also present. Then on June 22, Directors Mike White (Year of the Dog), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) and Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) conducted the LAFF’s Directors Coffee Talk event where they spoke about their careers and membership in the Guild.
