IAESDO Screening Series Presentation of Australian Film "Boxing Day" in LA and NY

On Friday, May 30, 2008 at the DGA Theatre in Los Angeles, and again on Friday, June 6, 2008 at the DGA New York Theatre, the Guild’s Director’s Finder Series screened Director Kriv Stenders’ feature film Boxing Day. The screening was presented by the Australian Directors Guild, which is part of the International Association of English Speaking Directors Organizations (IAESDO) of which the DGA is also a member.

The Director’s Finder Series—created in 1998 by the DGA’s Independent Directors Committee to spotlight undistributed low budget and/or independent feature films directed by Guild members — was recently expanded to include our IAESDO partners members’ work as well.

Boxing Day documents the minute-by-minute events of an afternoon in the life of a recovering alcoholic and alienated father who learns a dark and disturbing secret about his ex-wife’s new boyfriend that threatens to tear his family apart. Director Stenders was present at both screenings for a discussion about the film, moderated by DGA Director-Member Phillip Noyce in Los Angeles, and Australian Directors Guild President Ray Argall in New York.
